Is it always deposit-free?

Yes, the landlord can never claim a deposit when you rent through Samtrygg. Samtrygg rarely takes out a deposit, it might occur if the tenant, for example, lacks a Swedish social security number or registered income in Sweden. In such cases, we recommend that the tenant find a guarantor in order to not have to give a deposit. We do not wish to deny tenants on which we can not perform a credit check. That is why we use a deposit as security in such cases. This is to ensure the ability to pay and to minimize the risk of fraud. In the event that Samtrygg charges a deposit, Samtrygg will manage it throughout the rental period. The deposit is refunded when the keys are returned and following an inspection.
